Appointment FAQs

• How do I reschedule or cancel my appointment?

  Please call our office at least 24 hours before your scheduled appointment to cancel or reschedule. (For appointments in Anchorage and Eagle River, call 562-2277; for our Wasilla office, call 357-2267.)

• What if I'm not sure which OPA provider to see?

  OPA will be happy to recommend an OPA orthopedic or rheumatology provider with expertise in your area of concern, based on your condition and other factors. Just call us!

• Will I see a physician or a PA?

  You are welcome to schedule appointments with either. To expedite care, it often helps to schedule a preliminary evaluation with your preferred surgeon’s dedicated PA-C first. During this visit, you may also see the surgeon if available. Please note that our physician assistants are not only certified PA-Cs, they have additional advanced training in orthopedics and orthopedic subspecialties. All work in concert with our surgeons, and if surgery is indicated, of course, you will always meet with your surgeon.

• What forms do I need to complete before my first appointment?

  Please refer to our First Appointment page for a handy list of what you'll need to do and bring.

• What should I bring to my first appointment?

• Will I need to have X-rays taken?

  OPA may have to take X-rays even if X-rays were already taken by another provider outside the OPA office. This is necessary to check for changes or to obtain the most helpful view for diagnostic purposes.

• How does OPA handle billing and payments?

• What if I have questions after my visit?

  Please feel free to call your medical assistant or surgery scheduler with any questions or concerns — especially if you experience sudden changes in your condition that are not life-threatening. (If they are life-threatening, call 911.) Please leave a detailed message and they will get back to you as soon as possible.
